News: Bernie wants to give Buddha
pole position in London
Plans
to bring peace and serenity to the people of London by installing
a giant Buddha have won the backing of that renowned advocate of
contemplative silence Bernie Ecclestone. The Formula One tycoon
is supporting sculptor Laura Lian, who wants to put a 6ft statue
in a convenient park or square. "I've got Laura Lian's Buddha
in my office", ”says Ecclestone. When I have all these
other aggravations I look at it and it brings me peace. Put in the
right place, it will be really nice and will give out the right
message.” Atticus - Roland

Laura's
work is sought after from corporate, public and private collectors
across the UK. Included amongst her collectors are Bernie Ecclestone,
Dermot Desmond, Nicky Clarke, Rachel Hunter and Sharon Osbourne.
As
a 'listed' artist, she specializes in sculpture, her commissions
are diverse, from portraits with the likes of U2, John Lennon and
Gareth Chillcott, to an impressive bas-relief panel for the Dorchester
Hotel's health club in London.
Competitions
won in public work: A metal Relief Sculpture for The Royal Glamorgan
Hospital in South Wales and a themed parapet and gate design for
North Wiltshire County Council.
Laura
has been presented to HRH Princess Royal for her work on 'The Millennium
Bridge' project in Melksham, Wiltshire. Her metal fibre optics work
can be found in public houses at The Ledger Pub in London and Wilmslow. |
